17 Weeks...almost halfway there

17 Weeks has gone by so fast and I assume that the next few months will fly by too. It's been so great to get valuable feedback from other moms and dads on what to do and what to buy.

Yes, I actually stopped a couple w/kids in Target yesterday to ask how to pick-out a car seat. They were so sweet and helped to give me some tips.

Eric has been working hard on getting the backyard ready for a much needed shed. Last week he did about 3 - 4 dump runs and organized a bunch of junk in the backyard...he's my hero! Since su casa is super small we need a shed to put all that stuff that we don't use everyday. We are already running out of room and the baby and all the "stuff" that they come with isn't even moved in yet. I'm hoping that once we get the office turned into a nursery that we will have purged a bunch of things...anyone doing a yard sale soon, we have a lot to sell :)

1st Ultrasound

This is a belated post only because we weren't blogging when this took place but I thought it would be a good idea to revisit.

Our first ultrasound was on January 12, 2009 and I was about 11 weeks pregnant (ewww bentley just farted and it really stinks), and it was a routine first appointment at the Dr's office which they call the intake appointment. You don't actually see a Dr but you do get a lot of face time with a well qualified nurse. We first did the Doppler, which is what allows you to hear the heartbeat but we weren't so lucky to hear a heartbeat from some reason or another. The nurse said we were going to need to to an ultrasound which we were happy that it was going to happen on that day!! (Waiting really stinks) So we went upstairs and had ourselves an ultrasound, which was quite possibly the coolest thing that Eric or I had ever seen! There in fact was a heartbeat (a strong one) and the lil peanut looked less alien like than I thought. It was moving so much that the tech said we had a healthy swimmer on our hands! Oh no we thought to each other...it's going to be active just like Eric was when he was little, just ask his mom.

All in all the baby looked healthy and we left with the first most expensive black and white picture of our little one...amazing!

Movies

We just finished watching a movie that I rented at the library, "From Conception to Birth." We think we remember watching this in 9th grade health class but it was a nice refresher without being too in your face.

By the way, Libraries are wonderful! I just went to my local library for the first time since I was in elementry school and these establishments have really come a long way. The way it scans your checked out books and movies is really top-notch. Plus I think it took me less than 3 min to get a library card which used to take over a week to get in the mail. I just hope I can remember to return the books and movies on-time...that was always an issue for me.

Learning and Loving it,
Kate

16 Weeks and Counting

Due to sheer boredom we are blogging about the progress of our lil peanut. We'll add pics and updates as they become available. Please feel free to ask us any burning questions you may have ;)
